Night

In my book, "Night" written by Elie Wiesel, we are shown everything happening. Elie explains what he sees and hears. What he feels and fears. Elie is a teen when the Holocaust started to happen. First, he started to get moved into a ghetto, time after he started to go to a camp. The Nazis started taking over the Jews. Elie gets separated from his family. He says he's older then he really is. Elie sees how the Nazis around him treat his people. They spit on them, torture them, beat them, they do everything they possibly can in order to make the Jews feel like nothing. Elite loses everything. But will hope save him from this horrific thing?

This book has a very deep theme. Elie lives terrible inhumane things. It teaches you that evil can be beautiful and tricky. When Germany was in total devastation Hitler gave them fake hope. People were so desperate they needed to hear hope. Hitler made them believe the Jews were guilty for everything. Evil things were done but people thought it was for justice.

The Pregnancy Project

So far, I have read many inspirational books. Many have had strong messages, like: Despite all the sadness, there will always be a good thing that come with it. In the book, "The Pregnancy Project", we meet Gaby Rodriguez. Yes, the title might have you thinking, "The Pregnancy Project? What is this book about a girl experimenting and magically getting pregnant?" well it's not. Gaby has always had a tough life, she lives in a poor city, she has a lot of nieces and nephews, and  her mother had a lot of money issues. Gaby takes us through her mother life. Her mother was an immigrant living in California. Her mother had her first child at fourteen. After that, she had about six more children. The boy who pregnant her was the one she married and stayed with for a long time. He was the father of her current 7 kids, but Gaby's mother felt something was different. She was never truly in love with the father of her children, she actually wished he didn't stay by her side, but things started to change. She would always listen to him. She wouldn't dare to disobey him, but one day she did and that was the day they were over. She  found out he was cheating. They both raced to get the divorce papers to the court. Sadly, he won. Besides divorcing her, he took her children away. Ever since, she tried anything and everything to get her children back. Gaby's mother realized that the only way to get her children back is if she worked for it. She had to leave to another state in search of a job. Being illegal made it hard for her to find a job, but she didn't give up. Her mother was getting pushed around by bad luck, luckily, she was strong enough to get through it. Will Gaby's mom be strong enough to resist all the pain and anger? Or will she give up on her children? Gaby's mother reminds me of mine. My mom has been pushed around all her life. I'm proud to say she is my mother because despite all of the tough things throw at her, she's strong.

This story literally just began and it already has many things going on! Starting off with Juana's, (Gaby's mother) ex-husband taking away her children. She found him cheating so she went to turn in divorce papers, sadly, Juana's husband beat her and besides that he got custody of the children. Right now the big question is, Will Juana get her children back? She's doing all she can to get them back by her side. She left the state of California in search of a job to prove she can take care of her children. She keeps getting held back because of things that happen like her friend dying on their way to Montana. She has to fight against everything. And she will.

The Pregnancy Project #2

I finished my book, "The Pregnancy Project" and honestly.. It is really amazing. If you read the book you find out what happened to Juana and her children. Anyway, reading further into the book really changed my perspective on everything. Gaby came from a family of teen parents. All her siblings became teen parents, because of that people determined that Gaby was "destined" to become a teen parent. The things that's disturbing is that SHE didn't say that, OTHERS did. Her sibling expected her to take care of their children since Gaby's mom was always working. Since then, she knew she didn't want kids young. She's always been the best student she can be. She's tried her best to get those stereotypes out of people minds. For a senior project she wanted to make people take a life lesson from it. At first, she didn't know what to do.. but they she had a brilliant idea; fake a pregnancy. She immediately talked to her principal, mother, and boyfriend about the project. They all thought he was out of her mind, but she knew it would leave an impact. First, she started by adding a few layers of clothes, then her mother made a fake belly. Everything seemed easy at first until people started saying things about her. People were looking at her like a strange creature. The pressure started getting to her. Does she give up? Why do these people keep looking at her strangely and believing that what they said was true? Find out more by reading the book. Trust me, it really is amazing.

Gaby encounters many obstacles: faking the baby bump, the fake stomach breaking, people always talking bad about her. One of the things she always tries to figure out is; Why do people doubt my abilities because of my background? She was always a great student, a humble person, a hardworking girl, but people around her already determined her life for her. They said that she would become a teen mother. She didn't understand why they thought that. She had always worked towards what she wanted. She was going towards a good future. Why did these people still think she would fail? She didn't want to be like the rest of her family. She wanted to be successful. Sadly, people never like to see beyond what's on the outside, they like to think that they're right all the time. That is just the sad truth.

Holocaust

The holocaust was something terrifying. Imagine seeing everyone go "missing" just because they are a certain race. This was a dark time for everyone except the Nazis, which were the main cause for this whole nightmare. There were a few warm hearted people who gave the people hope like, Oskar Schindler. He started working with the Nazis for money, but one day he was something horrible happen. He saw the Jewish being killed, and besides that they were being killed for everyone and anyone to see, including children. That made him change completely of perspective. He started using his money and "ways" to get the Nazi's to let him have Jews work for him. When they tried to take them away Schindler used all the money he could in order to bribe the Nazis. He saved 11,000 people. Despite all the ways people could've stood up, many didn't. One of the many reasons for becoming a bystander was because Nazis were powerful. They had weapons with them all the time. If they found out you were helping in anyway, they would kill you. If they didn't kill you they would torture you. People stood up to the Nazis because they knew this was inhumane, it wasn't right! If I were in this situation I would've tried to help but if I was putting my family in danger I wouldn't, not because I didn't care but because my family consists of a toddler and my parents. If I was living alone with a good home I would've tried everything to at least hide two or three. Some is better then none.

Sweatshops

"Fatal Fire in Bangladesh Highlights the Dangers Facing Garment Workers." Sweat shops are the most horrible things ever. People work for hours and hours in dangerous environments for little pay. In 2012, 112 workers were killed by a horrible fire, many people lost their lives. Managers and security guards told these innocent people that it was all just part of a regular drill. Sadly,  people believed their words and stayed put. 112 were killed that day. Firefighters worked all night trying to take out the fire. They lost their lives making clothes for others. They lost their lives, not having much of a live anyway. These sweatshop owners are killing their employees with the amount of work they are given. Despite the huge amount of work, these people are paid under minimum wage AND are mistreated. Owners, along with governments, should take full responsibility on maintaining these buildings safe. These hard working people risk their lives making pretty materials for us, why don't we just risk a little and help them have a better life?

In the poem of, "The sweatshop", the person describes what working in a sweatshop makes him/her really feel. They talk about how working in the shop makes them feel like they robots doing the same thing all day, everyday. They said the feel like they can't think for themselves anymore, the owners think for them. Reading the poem made me feel like they did. I felt controlled and manipulated. Reading the article made me feel bad for those who passed but reading the the poem made me mourn these people. These people could've quit and made a new life, start all over, but they lost everything. Honestly, they couldn't truly start over but they could've asked for help. They starved, they died. Other employees didn't die in that fire but they're dying slowly on the inside. I have deep grieve for everyone working in these conditions.

Pretty Little Liars

The book "Pretty Little Liars" is extremely suspenseful. In this book you get introduced to many characters. This week I read a little about all the girls lives before they came back together.  These 5 girls were so close you could practically call them sisters. Suddenly this life turning event happens which causes them to all go their own way. Emily starts to look for more friends and she starts separating herself from the girls. Aria moves away to Iceland to get a "new start". Spencer is too stressed out with school that she doesn't have time to worry about friends. Hanna becomes way to popular to even care about the girls anymore. Ali.. well, she disappeared. People thought that what happened to her was murder. School began again after a few years of being apart. Unfortunately they start the year pretty strangely. Whenever someone happened in their life that reminding them of Ali, and when just like they were thinking about Ali they get a mysterious notes or message. One of the messages said, in this case directed towards Emily, said, "Thought you might want this back Love, A". This note was a love note Emily wrote to someone special. They don't know who this mysterious A is but they might have a clue. A starts catching the girls every actions and he/she start making themselves more and more present. A seems to know anything and everything, and they will use it to their advantage.  Unsure of who it is they all reunite and go out on a hunt after this torturous human being. Will A cause more trouble? Will A take it too far? Maybe. Horribly gorgeous girls,  can "die" but their secrets aren't truly buried along with them.

"Pretty Little Liars", is a suspenseful fiction/ teen fiction book/ mystery. Why? It's simple. Throughout the book thing will happen that you never imagine could. People will be threatened either softly or severely, there is no in between. All the girls have real life teenage problems. Their lives consist of: drama, rumors, friends, school, boys, and other things. The person called "A", who threatened to peel off those pretty little mask they have on, is someone completely anonymous. The girls have no clue of who this person can be. Or how they know all these things. The only other person who knew those secrets is dead, or at least they think. See? This one book can hold many Genres but it can keep it's ideas clean and clear. One of the biggest things I enjoy about this book is all the mystery behind "A" it constantly has me asking, "Who's A? How do they know this? Wait how did that just happen? What truly happened to Ali?". One things that bugs me the most is how the girls never even try to get the police involved. They are trying to resolve a dangerous problem by themselves but in all honesty, I probably would've done the same. At times, I literally feel like I am the girls. This book has me not just reading but LIVING the story.

Quote provided by book: Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret.

Call of Duty

The article of "Call of Duty" was sad yet inspiring. Jose Armenta & Zenit work together to track dangerous bombs. Both Jose and Zenit were in the army. Zenit was Jose's partner. Zenit is Jose's trusty dog. On the day they were very successful, they were also unsuccessful. Unfortunately, tracking of one if the bombs went wrong and Jose almost lost his life. Jose lost both his legs and a lot of blood. Closest thing he had to survival was miles away! Zenit stayed by Jose's side the whole time. When rescue finally got there, they took Jose and Zenit to an emergency room right away. After long months of rehab and therapy, Jose started to get use to his new legs. Getting use to his prosthesis legs wasn't easy, but he got through the adversity. The most tragic part of this unforgettable event, was that his bestfriend, Zenit, was taken to war again AND assigned to a new partner. Jose was angered! He hated knowing that Zenit was with somebody new. In order to get back Zenit, Jose had to work hard and fight. That's exactly what he did. Jose went through a lot of arguments, and paper signing, and waiting, to get Zenit back by his side. After waiting for what seemed like forever, Jose was reunited with his trusty partner and best friend, Zenit. Zenit immediately recognized Jose and covered him in kisses. Jose says that he felt like his life was finally complete.

This article taught me so many things, I don't even know where to start. First off, it taught me that true connections can be with another person or even an animal. It also taught me that your best friend will always be by yourside in time of need. No matter if Zenit was a dog, he understood what happened to Jose and he didn't leave him to die. Another thing it taught me was to fight for what I want and love. Most of the time it's worth fighting for. If you truly want something, you'll wait as long as it takes.

True friendships can never be broken.

Will Grayson - Point of View

There are many characters in the book, "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" but who's point of view is it?

We are introduced to two characters points of view. Both are named Will Grayson. We see their story through their eyes. How do I know? Simple, they both live different stories.

The first Will we meet talks a lot about going to clubs with fake ID's. "Jane gives her ID to the bouncer. He shines a flashlight on it, glances up at her, and hands it back." Then when they go home with an intoxicated Tiny Cooper. "I notice Tiny looking blankly at me, swaying back and forth like a skyscraper in the wind. And then he falls face first."

Then we go to the other Will Grayson, the depressed Will Grayson. "but I always end up turning my head. always. I always walk off the edge." This scene was really upsetting. Mostly when he said the next few words. " you have no idea how much I hate this. I hate the fact that I'm ruining the night right now, ruining everything."

But apart from the intense scenes this book has,  I enjoy the point of views this book portrays. It shows us that although what comes out said might sound awful and rude at times, what's thought of can truly mean something to them. That is why I enjoyed this book from front cover to back.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson Summary

In the book "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" there are many twist and turns and many spilled feelings. Some accidental, some purposely, but all huge. You see, both Will Grayson's have many hidden things. One Will Grayson has hidden feelings, the other, has hidden secrets.

The first Will Grayson we meet is known for his two famous rules "don't care too much" and "just shut up." He doesn't seem to bother himself much with his feelings towards girl. Not because he has a different kind of like but because he thinks it's dumb to fall in love. Therefore, he tries to avoid the feelings that are growing towards his friend's friend (who is also his but he doesn't really know) Jane. Sadly, that effort to avoid fails and he ends up falling for her more.

The other Will has a secret hidden. He is in fact gay AND he always finds his lovers on the internet. Will has only one friend.  Maura. When we first meet Will he seems like a complete jerk. It's like he says things without actually taking in the meaning. Soon you find out he doesn't do it because he's truly a jerk,  but because he doesn't really know how to deal with hard emotions. Will is depressed and just wants true love. He doesn't know how to sense it from those around him.

One unplanned night, both Will Grayson's meet. This unexpected event takes a toll on their life's. Will it be for good or for bad? Will something lovely happen? Or will something tragic occur? Read more to find out. This book will have you on a honest rollercoaster of life.

Character Analysis

In my book, "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" there are two Will Grayson's but I will be talking about one. Both Will Grayson's have a very good story to them, but the Will Grayson I'm gonna describe has a bit of a down side to him.

Will Grayson is a lonely kid who believe his only friend is Maura. A girl who is his best friend but sometimes she makes it seem like she wants more than that. Will met his "lover" online. Will doesn't really like doing much except for waiting on Isaac. Everyday they message each other and talk about their feelings towards one another. Will can be a total jerk but he also has feelings and he knows when he's going overboard. Will is kinda full of sadness and hate. Will claims that Isaac is the only person who keeps him sain. I sympathize Will. I really do feel for him.

Lemon Brown

The story "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" was a truly inspiring story. You see, Lemon Brown taught Greg the importance of memories. I really thought this story had a strong message in it. It really surprised me when Lemon fought the guys who were trying to steal his treasure. I loved how he protected his treasure whole-heartedly. What surprised me the most was Lemon's past, he was a rich musician but he gave all that up. Now he's a homeless man living in an abandoned place. That shows that not everything can go well. Greg wanted to leave home because he thought it would be better. He thought he would have a better off living somewhere else. Lemon Brown taught Greg many things. One of the Lemon shows Greg that even the smallest things can have a huge meaning to them. Greg learned that maybe his father was tough because he truly wanted Greg to be a better person.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson

The book "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" by John Green and David Levithan is a unique book. In this book there are two Will Grayson's. One Will Grayson lives by two rules, "don't care too much" and "just shut up". He has a friend named Tiny Cooper who is possibly the biggest person he's every meant who is also very, very gay. Will is afraid to fall in love. He thinks he'll make a fool of himself and just come out hurt. But then he finds himself falling for Jane, one of Tiny Coppers friends who would also be Will's friend. On the other hand, the other Will Grayson IS in fact gay. He doesn't have many friends and the only friend he has, Maura, if most likely in love with Will. Will claims to have met his "one and only" online. His name is Isaac. Will feels truly in love with him. Will they fall or will the fail?
